Split System Installation Across Sydney
A split system is the most cost-effective way to heat and cool one or two rooms. AirXperts has been installing them across Sydney from our South Granville base since 2001 — supplied, installed, connected and warranted by licensed technicians.
Most installations are finished in a single visit. You get a fixed price before we start, and the price you are quoted is the price you pay.

How the Installation Works
1. Free onsite measure and quote
We come to you. Quoting a split system over the phone is guesswork — the price depends on wall construction, where the outdoor unit can sit, how far the pipe has to run and whether your switchboard can carry the load. The measure takes about 20 minutes and the quote is fixed.
2. Sizing
We size on room volume, glazing, orientation, insulation and ceiling height — not floor area alone. Undersizing is the most common fault we are called to fix on systems installed by others: the unit runs flat out on a 40°C day and never reaches setpoint. Oversizing is its own problem, because the system short-cycles and never runs long enough to pull the humidity out.
3. Installation day
A standard back-to-back install — indoor and outdoor unit on either side of the same wall — takes about three to four hours. We core the wall, mount the indoor head and outdoor condenser, run and insulate the refrigerant lines, fit the condensate drain, connect power, pressure-test and vacuum the lines, then charge and commission the system.
4. Handover
We run the system up in front of you, show you the controller and the app if the unit has one, explain filter cleaning, and leave you the warranty paperwork. Drop sheets down, mess taken with us.
What It Costs
Our split system packages are fixed-price, supplied and installed, including GST:
- TCL 2.5kW inverter reverse cycle — $1,499. Bedrooms and home offices up to about 20m².
- Samsung 5kW inverter reverse cycle — $2,199. Living rooms and larger bedrooms.
- Daikin Cora 7.1kW inverter reverse cycle — $2,999. Open-plan living and dining.
Package pricing assumes a standard back-to-back installation with the outdoor unit at ground level. What moves a job off package pricing:
- Long refrigerant runs — where the outdoor unit cannot sit near the indoor head.
- Upper-storey or roof-mounted condenser positions needing height access.
- Switchboard upgrades, or running a dedicated circuit where none exists.
- Solid brick, double brick or heritage walls that are slower to core.
- Strata buildings requiring approval, specified condenser locations or after-hours work.
All of it is identified at the quote stage, not sprung on you on install day.
What Size Split System Do I Need?
A starting point for a standard Sydney home with average insulation and 2.4m ceilings:
- Up to 20m² — bedroom, study, home office — 2.5kW
- 20-30m² — large bedroom, small living room — 3.5kW
- 30-45m² — living room — 5.0kW
- 45-60m² — open-plan living and dining — 7.1kW
- 60m²+ — large open-plan — 8.0kW+, or consider ducted
Size up from these figures if the room has large west-facing windows, raked or high ceilings, poor insulation, or a dark roof with minimal sarking. Homes in Penrith, Blacktown and the outer west see regular 40°C+ summer days and generally need a step up.
If you are conditioning three or more rooms, a ducted system is usually better value than three separate splits — and quieter, since the equipment sits in the roof.
New Build, Renovation or Retrofit
Retrofit into an existing home
The most common job. We work with the building as it stands, choosing pipe routes that keep runs short and visible ducting to a minimum. Older Sydney homes — Federation, weatherboard, double brick — each have their quirks and we have worked on all of them.
During a renovation
The cheapest time to install. With walls open we can run refrigerant lines and power inside the cavity, so nothing is visible afterwards and there is no coring through finished surfaces. If you are renovating, talk to us before the plasterboard goes on.
New builds
We work to plan and coordinate with your builder and electrician so rough-in happens at the right stage. Getting the condenser location agreed early avoids the classic problem of the only viable spot being where the paving has already gone down.
Apartments and strata
Strata almost always requires written approval before installation, and many buildings specify where condensers may be mounted and what they may look like. We have worked through this process across Sydney and can supply the technical detail your strata manager will ask for.
