Daikin

Daikin is the world's largest air conditioning manufacturer and the brand we install most across Sydney. AirXperts is a Daikin Specialist Dealer and has been installing, servicing and repairing Daikin systems from our South Granville base since 2001.

That matters for two reasons. Specialist Dealers are trained on current Daikin equipment, so the system gets sized and commissioned properly rather than simply bolted to a wall. And because we hold stock and parts locally, a Daikin repair in Western Sydney is usually a same-week job rather than a multi-week wait on an ordered part.

Whether you need a single split system for a bedroom, a multi-head setup for a whole floor, or a fully zoned ducted system for a family home, this page covers the Daikin range we install, what it costs, and what to expect on install day.

Split systems

• Cora — Daikin's mainstream wall-mounted range. The best value-for-money option for most Sydney bedrooms and living rooms, and the unit we fit most often.
• Alira X — a slimmer, quieter cabinet with built-in wi-fi control and a higher energy rating. Worth the step up in living areas and open-plan spaces where the unit is visible and noise matters.
• Zena — the designer option, in a flat matte finish. Chosen on looks as much as performance, usually for renovated living rooms.
• Perfera — Daikin's premium wall split, with the strongest efficiency figures and the finest filtration in the range.

Multi-split systems

One outdoor unit driving up to five indoor heads. The right answer for apartments, townhouses and terraces where there is only one spot for a condenser, or where strata limits how many outdoor units you can mount. Each room still gets its own control and setpoint.

Ducted systems

Daikin's inverter ducted range delivers whole-home heating and cooling through ceiling vents, with zoning so you only condition the rooms in use. We fit these in everything from three-bedroom homes to large two-storey builds. Zoning is the part most people underestimate — a well-zoned system costs meaningfully less to run than an unzoned one of the same capacity.

Cassette and bulkhead

Ceiling cassettes distribute air in four directions from a flush ceiling panel and suit open-plan living areas and commercial floors. Bulkhead units hide in a ceiling void and feed one or two rooms through short ducting — a common fix in apartments where there is no roof space for a full ducted system.

These are current AirXperts package prices, including GST, supplied and installed on a standard back-to-back installation with the indoor and outdoor unit either side of the same wall:

• Daikin Cora 7.1kW split system — $2,999. Suits a large living area or open-plan space.
• Daikin 12.5kW inverter ducted system — $8,499. Typically a three to four bedroom home.
• Daikin 14kW inverter ducted system — $8,999. Larger or two-storey homes.

Every package price includes supply, installation, power connection and both manufacturer and workmanship warranty. What moves a job off package pricing is the install itself, not the equipment: long pipe runs, a second-storey or roof-access condenser position, switchboard upgrades, or tight roof spaces on a ducted job.

Undersizing is the single most common mistake we are called out to fix. A unit that is too small runs flat out through a Western Sydney heatwave, never reaches setpoint, and wears out early. Oversizing is its own problem — the system short-cycles, never runs long enough to pull humidity out of the air, and leaves the room cold and clammy.

As a rough starting point for a standard Sydney home with average insulation and ceiling height:

• Bedroom or home office, up to 20m² — 2.5kW
• Large bedroom or small living room, 20-30m² — 3.5kW
• Living room, 30-45m² — 5.0kW
• Open-plan living and dining, 45-60m² — 7.1kW
• Whole home, three to four bedrooms — 12.5kW ducted
• Whole home, larger or two-storey — 14kW+ ducted

Those figures shift with west-facing glass, cathedral ceilings, poor insulation or a dark roof. Homes in Penrith, Blacktown and the outer west regularly see 40°C+ summer days and generally need a step up from the baseline. That is what the onsite measure is for.

We repair Daikin systems whether or not we installed them. Common faults we see across Sydney:

• System runs but does not cool — usually low refrigerant from a leak, or a failed capacitor on the outdoor unit.
• Error code on the wall controller — Daikin's codes point to a specific subsystem, which is why a technician who knows the brand diagnoses faster.
• Water dripping from the indoor unit — nearly always a blocked condensate drain, and one of the cheapest faults to fix.
• Outdoor unit noisy or vibrating — worn fan bearings or loose mounting feet.
• Weak airflow — a dirty filter or, on ducted systems, a collapsed or disconnected flexible duct in the roof.

Diagnosis is upfront-priced before any work starts, and repairs carry a workmanship warranty. If a system is old enough that the repair cost approaches replacement, we will tell you that rather than quietly charge for the repair.

Servicing a Daikin annually — filter clean, coil clean, drain flush, gas pressure and electrical check — keeps the manufacturer warranty intact and stops the small faults above becoming expensive ones.

We install all three, and the honest answer is that any of them will do the job well. The differences are real but narrower than the marketing suggests.

• Daikin — the widest model range and the strongest parts and service network in Australia. Usually the safest choice for a system you expect to keep 15 years, and the easiest to get parts for down the track.
• Mitsubishi Heavy Industries — very strong on quiet running and typically slightly better value at the same capacity. A genuinely good option, and often the better buy on ducted.
• Fujitsu — competitive pricing and a solid, no-frills range. Good value in bedrooms and secondary rooms.

In practice the installer matters more than the badge. A well-sized, well-commissioned Fujitsu will outperform a poorly installed Daikin every time. We are happy to quote across brands so you can compare like for like.
