Mitsubishi Heavy Industries

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries — MHI — is one of the quietest and best-value air conditioning brands sold in Australia, and one of the three we install most often. AirXperts supplies, installs, services and repairs the full MHI range across Sydney from our South Granville base.

One point of confusion worth clearing up first: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Electric are two separate companies. Both make air conditioners, both are sold in Australia, and they are not the same product line or parts network. We install both, so if you are cross-shopping, tell us which one you have been quoted on and we can compare properly.

MHI's strength is quiet operation at a competitive price. On ducted in particular, MHI often lands meaningfully below the equivalent Daikin capacity without giving much away on performance.

Split systems

• Bronte — MHI's mainstream wall-mounted split. Strong value in bedrooms and living areas, and notably quiet at low fan speeds.
• Avanti Plus — the higher-output range, with better performance in extreme heat and cold. Worth considering for west-facing rooms and Western Sydney homes that cop 40°C+ summers.

Multi-split systems

One outdoor unit running several indoor heads — the practical option for apartments, townhouses and any property where strata or space limits you to a single condenser location.

Ducted systems

MHI's inverter ducted range is where the brand is most competitive. Whole-home heating and cooling through ceiling vents with zone control, at a price that usually undercuts comparable systems. Our 10kW MHI ducted package is $6,999 and the 12.5kW is $7,499, both supplied and installed including GST.

Cassette and commercial

MHI ceiling cassettes and light commercial equipment suit offices, shops, medical suites and open-plan floors. We handle both the installation and ongoing maintenance contracts.

• MHI 10kW inverter reverse cycle ducted system — $6,999. Suits a typical three-bedroom home.
• MHI 12.5kW inverter reverse cycle ducted system — $7,499. Three to four bedrooms, or a home with larger open-plan living.

Both include supply, installation, power connection and manufacturer plus workmanship warranty. Additional zones, long duct runs, difficult roof access or a switchboard upgrade are quoted separately after an onsite measure.

We repair MHI systems whether or not we installed them. Faults we see regularly:

• Cooling has dropped off — most often a refrigerant leak or a failing outdoor fan motor.
• Error code on the controller — MHI codes narrow the fault to a specific subsystem and speed up diagnosis considerably.
• Water dripping indoors — a blocked condensate drain, and usually a quick fix.
• Ducted system not reaching some rooms — commonly a failed zone motor or a duct that has come adrift in the roof space.
• Unit running noisier than it used to — worn bearings, or debris in the outdoor fan.

Diagnosis is priced upfront before work starts and repairs carry a workmanship warranty. Annual servicing keeps the MHI manufacturer warranty valid and catches the small faults early.

We install both and quote both, so we have no reason to push one over the other.

• Choose MHI if value and quiet running matter most. On ducted especially, MHI usually comes in lower at the same capacity, and the units run quietly at low fan speed.
• Choose Daikin if you want the widest model range and the strongest long-term parts and service network in Australia. On a system you plan to keep 15 years, that network has real value.

Both are properly engineered brands with full Australian support. The bigger determinant of how well your system performs is whether it was sized and commissioned correctly — which is the part we control.
